MARTIN INTERNATIONALE SPEDITION

Your freight forwarder for international Georgia transports

How do you organise a fast and efficient transport to Georgia?

A fast and efficient transport to Georgia succeeds when the logistics are coordinated early and an experienced freight forwarder for Georgia supervises the route. That is exactly what we do: a reliable partner network, short response times, and regularly performed Georgia transports so that your goods arrive in Georgia without delays.

For larger freight, we rely on direct full truckloads, for example machinery transports to Georgia, which run to the recipient without reloading. Smaller shipments are consolidated into economical part loads – from pallet shipping to Georgia to single-pallet deliveries – so that your Georgia transports remain transparent and well plannable. Customers particularly often choose truck transports to Georgia because they are flexible and reliably move machinery, equipment, or industrial goods.

When it is urgent, we provide an express vehicle exclusively for your cargo. For heavy or oversized goods, we take over the full organisation including permits, route planning, and on-site coordination. Our logistics for Georgia deliver clear processes and reliable information so that your shipment arrives safely and on time.

Georgia transports and logistics – briefly explained

Transports to Georgia are carried out by international forwarders specialised in traffic to the Caucasus and to third countries outside the EU. These include larger logistics networks as well as experienced mid-sized providers using regular routes via Türkiye, Bulgaria or the Black Sea.
It is important that the forwarder is familiar with the typical transit routes, regional specifics and Georgian customs processes. Companies like ours also regularly offer transports to Georgia without highlighting this for marketing. What matters is stable route planning, reliable partner structures in the region and the ability to safely handle both full and part loads.

For commercial deliveries to Georgia, road transport is the most frequently chosen solution. Road transport allows flexible collection, direct delivery and good predictability – particularly via Türkiye or Bulgaria.
For particularly urgent or high-value goods, air freight is a sensible option, for example via the airports of Tbilisi, Batumi or Kutaisi.
Combined modes of transport are also possible, such as truck + ferry via the Black Sea ports (Poti or Batumi). This variant is often used when geopolitical factors or route conditions make a direct crossing difficult. The choice of transport mode ultimately depends on the time factor, goods value and route.

The costs of transports to Georgia depend on several parameters: mode of transport (FTL/LTL), goods volume, weight, loading metres, destination region, transit route and seasonal load. Typical additional costs such as tolls, transit fees, customs clearance, demurrage or fuel surcharges also apply.
Full truck loads can usually be calculated relatively clearly, while part loads fluctuate more as they depend on trans-shipment points and network structures.
As Georgia lies outside the EU and several transit countries are crossed, every forwarder produces individual quotations. Complete shipment data are needed for an accurate calculation, including dimensions, weights, packaging type and desired transit time.

For transports to Georgia, complete export paperwork is required, as it is a non-EU country. These include the commercial invoice, packing list, customs tariff numbers, export declaration and – depending on the goods – proofs of origin or conformity certificates.
Georgia has numerous trade agreements which can give certain goods preferential treatment, but documents must be filled out correctly and completely to avoid delays. Many transports also need transit documents (e.g. T1) due to passage through several countries.
In Georgia itself, import clearance takes place under national customs law, where particular goods categories may require additional certificates or registrations.

The transit time depends on route, mode of transport, season and border processes. Common benchmarks are:

  • Full truck load (FTL): approx. 7–14 working days
  • Part load (LTL): approx. 10–18 working days
  • Air freight: usually 1–4 days depending on departure point

The most frequent route runs via Türkiye. Alternatively, transports via Bulgaria and ferries on the Black Sea are possible. Seasonal factors, border waiting times or regional traffic conditions (particularly in the Caucasus) can influence transit times. Professional providers therefore typically work with time corridors.

Many forwarders offer not only international transports but also supplementary services within Georgia. These include:

  • local delivery to the end recipient
  • unloading and handover of the goods
  • intermediate storage or trans-shipment at regional logistics centres
  • support with import clearance
  • organisation of special transports (e.g. machinery or oversize)
  • coordination of onward transport to surrounding regions

Depending on the partner network, technical support such as lifting equipment, safe storage areas or project logistics can also be provided.

Booking is usually done through a structured transport enquiry containing all relevant data: pickup location, delivery address, dimensions, weights, type of goods, desired transit time and special requirements. Many freight forwarders provide digital enquiry forms or online booking tools.
Exports to Georgia can also be requested via our enquiry form on the website, without this being highlighted in a promotional way.
After the data is submitted, the forwarder examines possible routes, transit times and transport options. The customer then receives an individual quote. Once accepted, vehicle dispatch, document preparation and customs preparation are initiated.

Hazardous-goods transports to Georgia are subject to international rules such as ADR as well as the regulations of the transit countries. The classic route is by truck via Eastern Europe and Turkey, provided the transported dangerous-goods class is permitted along the route.
For certain types of dangerous goods, there may be restrictions at border crossings, in tunnels or on specific transit sections. A precise check of the dangerous-goods class and all accompanying documents is therefore necessary before every transport.
Air freight can be an alternative, but only for dangerous goods admitted under IATA-DGR. Full and correct documentation is particularly important with dangerous-goods transports, including transport papers, safety information and labelling.
